Over 100 pioneering companies and startups in Iran\u2019s digital economy have signed a statement calling for an end to restrictive internet policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Tehran Electronic Commerce Association\u2019s public relations office, the statement reads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe, one hundred leading companies and startups in Iran\u2019s digital economy, demand an immediate end to the country\u2019s restrictive and security-driven internet policies. Our urgent requests include the removal of blocks on popular social networks and educational and skill-building websites, increasing international internet speed and bandwidth, and lifting restrictions on emerging protocols such as HTTP 3.0 and IPV6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prolonged delay in lifting filters and restrictions\u2014despite promises from the President and declarations by the Ministry of Communications\u2014has caused serious security damages, widespread distrust, and prolonged irreparable harm to Iran\u2019s digital economy. \u2018Free and high-speed internet for all Iranian citizens\u2019 is the root of the digital economy\u2019s growth and the hope of young people to create a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We, as digital economy activists, expect swift and practical actions in this regard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
