1402/04/07

The Tehran E-Commerce Association has addressed an open letter to Seyed Ebrahim Raisi concerning the ongoing internet disruptions and slow speeds across the country. The association announced that it will soon publish a detailed report on Iran’s internet status, including practical proposals and solutions from the private sector to help resolve this crisis.

According to the Tehran E-Commerce Association’s public relations office, the letter reads:

Dear Mr. Raisi,
Honorable President,

The first step toward any change is acknowledging existing problems. Therefore, we welcome your invitation to examine the crisis of “internet slowdowns” positively, hoping this initiative marks the beginning of meaningful improvements in the quality of the country’s internet and the reduction of its restrictions.

As a private sector organization, alongside the government task force’s review, the E-Commerce Association will prepare a specialized report on internet disruptions and quality in Iran and make it publicly available. This report will also include practical recommendations and solutions from the private sector, aiming to provide a precise and scientific benchmark for public awareness and assist the government in fulfilling this vital responsibility.

With expert human resources, a strategic geographic location, and abundant energy resources, Iran has the potential infrastructure to become the digital economy hub of the Middle East. Achieving the projected 15% digital economy share outlined in the Seventh Development Plan is feasible, but the first critical step is to guarantee “free, high-speed, and quality internet access for all Iranians.”

As representatives of a group of innovative private companies, we are committed to exerting every effort to realize this goal.
